Dr. Ipalibo Banigo, the Deputy Governor of Rivers State has awarded scholarship to 55 Undergraduates.
A scan through the list shows the beneficiaries were drawn from the tertiary institutions within the state.
Mixed reactions have however trailed the release of the list of beneficiaries. While many have commended the Deputy Governor’s act of benevolence, some undergraduates of Rivers origin studying outside Rivers State have lamented that they are often left out of such schemes.
They sited a similar undergraduates scholarship scheme sponsored by Governor Nyesom Wike in 2020 which favoured only Rivers students studying within the state.
