Pay Your Fees Or Go Home Vice Chancellor, Prof Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele Tells IAUOE Students

Vice Chancellor, Prof Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele

The Vice Chancellor (VC) of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUOE), Port Harcourt, Prof Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele, says only students who pay their fees are allowed to remain as students.

Ndimele, who stated this during the 12th Matriculation ceremony of the institution at the weekend, stated that all other students who were unable to pay their fees before the deadline of June 12, 2021, were no more students of the institution.

In his welcome address at the occasion, Ndimele explained that a total of 16,759 candidates opted to study in the university during the last Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, out of which 5,985 were admitted.

However, at the close of the school’s portal at midnight on June 12, 2021, only 5,391 candidates had accepted the admission, while 4,840 had paid their fees and duly registered.

“As we conduct this matriculation, today, let it be clear to you that it is only those who have registered, who have been cleared, and who have paid all necessary fees and charges that are considered bona-fide students.

“If you have not followed this procedure, then, you’re not a student. You may have to return home in your best interest”, he said.

While telling the 4,840 students who have duly registered and matriculated as being lucky, he urged them to abide strictly to the rules and regulations of the school in all spheres.

The VC used the opportunity to state that the university has zero tolerance for cultism and other anti-social vices.

“If you’re a member of any cult group, please, decide today to denounce it. Do not allow anyone to force you into becoming a member of a cult.

“Come to us to report if you’re troubled by anyone. We run an inclusive and open door policy”, he charged.

While encouraging the matriculants to take their studies seriously, Ndimele stated that any student who can emerge as the best graduating student each year stands to get a N1million award.

He also stated that the institution has introduced “Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship Award” annually for students who obtain CGPA of 4.0 and above.

“The award comes with a certificate and cash award”, he said.
