C.C Johnson


Christian Chinedu Johnson, better known as C.C Johnson, is a Port-Harcourt, based Nigerian smooth jazz saxophonist. Born June 16, in Ogba-Egbema- Ndoni, Rivers State, and raised in Port Harcourt. He studied Accounting at the University of Port Harcourt. He is married to Mrs Confidence and they are blessed with three (3) wonderful daughters, Charis, Dariann and Chevella.  

C.C Johnson is a prolific songwriter and saxophonist who has toured with a series of musicians and has coloured their soundtracks with his intriguing solos. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Sound Production (2SP Crew), a sound reinforcement service company.

 

C.C Johnson's musical pursuits began at a very tender age, where he began playing the percussion, trumpet, but he had a deep desire to play the saxophone.  He grew up listening to gospel & highlife music and later went into playing the saxophone professionally in 2001.

In 2007, his single 'I Surrender' brought him to the limelight. He has also recorded a series of smooth Jazz albums, 'Green Hills' (Sax for Meditation) in 2007; he later released an album titled 'Elevate' an album compilation for celebrating Papa Johnson (His Father) at 70years. C.C Johnson released another album titled 'CHARIS' in the year 2017 and was launched on the 1st day of May, being the International Jazz festival event day.

 

In 2012 C.C Johnson was inspired with a dream of a jazz festival in Port Harcourt. This dream, however, came to life and “Jazz On My Mind’ was born.  

“I discovered that over the years that live music was fast disappearing and relegated to the background. Live music and instrumentalists realized that the culture of a live band and playing of musical instruments was fast disappearing, affecting the quality of music and stage performances.”  

 

 Jazz On My Mind has gradually grown to be an international band with international appeal as jazz artist from several parts of the world. It is also regarded as the biggest International Jazz festival in Nigeria.

C.C Johnson has imparted positively in the lives of so many persons, through his jazz music and philanthropic attitude. His impact has been seen and felt in so many lives and that of some saxophonists, which he trained for free on how to play the saxophone.  He is called the Sax Maestro because of his sax technique and artistic dexterity which is one of a kind.

C.C Johnson’s sax technique and artistic dexterity are mind-blowing. He is a brilliant saxophonist whose artistry has earned him a performance on the same stage with one of the world’s best sax player Najee (New York), Keenan Chas Ahrends (South Africa), Donald Duke, Cobhams Asuquo, Philip Uzor, RicHassani, Timi Dakolo, Woli Oni and lots more.  He has also played in one of the world’s biggest & largest crowd event ‘CFAN’ (Christ for all Nations) by Reinhard Bonnke
