The Rivers State executive council meeting held this Thursday. It was presided over by governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
After reviewing what the World Health Organization has now described as a world pandemic, the council set up five member committee.
The committee will carry out awareness campaign and embark on intensive public enlightenment of residents in the state on how to prevent themselves from the corona virus.
Commissioner of information and communications Paulinus Nsirim briefed government house correspondents after the council meeting alongside the commissioner of chieftaincy and community affairs, Eloka Tasie-Amadi.
Nisirm said the five man committee will ensure that residents in the 23 local government areas in the state get adequate sensitisation that will help them not to contact the virus.

He stated that members of the public need to begin to imbibe rudiment hygienic practice that also include the use of hand sanitisers to prevent corona virus infection.

Commissioner for Information and Comminication, Paulinus Nsirim (Chairman)
Commissioner for Health, Prof Chike Princewill
Commissioner for Environment, Dr Igbiks Tamuno
Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Barrister Eloka Tasie-Amadi
and Commissioner for Youths Affairs, Ohia Prince
“This committee is to ensure that citizens of the State in the 23 Local Government areas get adequate information that will stop them from contracting the virus. ”
The commissioner added: “We also use this opportunity to inform members of the public that they need to practice elementary hygiene. They should use hand sanitizers to prevent contracting the virus .”
